93 • Hubris, Narcissism, and Humility

The emerging Artist is driven by attraction towards two principles: Hubris and Narcissism. Like a planet oscillating between the gravities of two stars. If he gets caught in the gravity field of either one beyond escape, a cataclysmic event ensues which ensures the cessation of all development and growth. Somewhere in between these extremes and on a different plane, surprisingly selfless art can emerge. The discovery of Humility. Then the artist breaks free from the gravitational pulls of the twin stars and becomes an own gravitational center, a self-sustaining and brightly burning solar phenomenon, a star in its original meaning.
