Musical interpretation is about discovering the hierarchical order and the connections between notes, gestures, motives, melodies, harmonies, phrases, cadences, rhythm, and form.

Musical narrative obeys principles like the surfer obeys the wave, which is created by the force of gravity (rhythm), cyclical movement of the tide (harmony), and surface tension of water (melody). From the hierarchical combination of these musical principles a narrative and thus expectation emerges. Within this expectation forms our aesthetic experience.

The performer needs to direct his attention to the multifaceted exchange of all elements at the same time, both as the creator and the receiver. It's the matter and mystery of a broad horizon of awareness: Attentionscape.
